lessons for "pencerahan"

When i do clearing of papers in my bedroom, i found this note which i believe i wrote it down from book i borrowed from the library. I'm thinking to write it down in my blog, thus i can keep the note and throw this paper away =P
Below is the note:

2 lessons from St. Agustine:
- Evil is not an active force. but simply the absence of goodness. So to fight evil, focus on making more goodness, not on winning battles against the bad.
- Put more goodness & a corresponding amount of evil will disappear, without having to win any battles against it.

4 lesson from Aristotle:
- Happiness is a moral state, not an emotional state.
- If you are not happy , seek to be a better person instead of simply seeking to feel happier.
- Being good means doing good. Virtue is useless unless it leads to positive action.
- Help others to be happier by helping them to become better.

2 lessons from Michael Jordan:
- To succeed at any difficult, worthwhile task, you'll have to pass through a great deal of failure.
- You must put aside the fear of looking like a failure in order to find your truest success.

3 lessons from Cyrano De Bergerac:
- Short-Term rewards are tempting - beauty and youth can sell with great initial power.
- Long-Term satisfaction comes from passion and commitment, not from the short-term virtues like beauty and youth.
- The externals, like the specific words you use, can never make up for poor understanding/ crack of belief in what you are doing/ selling

Hopes the notes can give a "pencerahan" ;)
